Brooklyn Car Donation: Auction Sale or Recycling?

Brooklyn Car Donation Tips

Your donated vehicle will be sold at auction or recycled for new materials. With either route, the proceeds benefit charities partnered with Troops Relief Fund. If you are considering a brooklyn car donation, that is the central distinction to understand: your vehicle can help raise funds through a sale or through its materials.

You do not need to predict its eventual destination before contacting us. Start by telling us about the car, truck or motorcycle you want to donate, and bring any questions you have about what happens next.

What an auction sale means

When a donated vehicle goes to auction, it is offered for sale. The proceeds from that sale benefit our partner charities. For you as the donor, the important point is that donating a vehicle and selling it privately are different decisions. When you donate to us, you are contributing your vehicle to our fundraising work rather than arranging a sale for your own proceeds.

There is no need to estimate an auction price before reaching out. Focus instead on sharing a clear description of your vehicle and asking the questions that matter to your decision.

What recycling means

The other route is recycling the donated vehicle for new materials. In this case, the fundraising value comes through recycled automotive materials. Proceeds from this route also benefit our partner charities.

Recycling is therefore another way a donated vehicle can contribute to our work. The distinction is between selling the vehicle at auction and recovering materials through recycling, not between a donation that matters and one that does not.

What to tell us about your vehicle

We accept cars, trucks and motorcycles, including vehicles that do not run. When you contact us, it can help to have a few practical details ready:

  • The vehicle’s make, model and approximate year.
  • Whether it currently starts and runs.
  • Where it is located in Brooklyn.
  • Any access details you would like to discuss for pickup.
  • Your questions about auction sale, recycling or scheduling.

These are useful conversation starters, not a reason to delay contacting us while you try to assess the vehicle yourself. If you are unsure how to describe something, tell us what you know and ask us your question directly.

How to begin your Brooklyn donation

We arrange vehicle pickup and towing at no cost to you, at a convenient time and location discussed with you. You can begin by calling us or completing our online donation form. After an online request, we contact you within about 24 hours to arrange pickup.

Before that conversation, consider when you can make the vehicle available and note any questions you want answered. Keeping those details together can make it easier to discuss your donation without getting distracted by guesses about its future sale or recycling.

Start your donation online or call us at 1-646-402-6102. Whether your donated vehicle is sold at auction or recycled for new materials, the proceeds support our partner charities.
