Can an Out-of-Use Motorcycle Be Donated? Questions to Confirm

Yes. We accept motorcycles through our Staten Island car donation program, whether or not they are in working condition. If you have stopped riding or your motorcycle no longer runs, contact us to discuss the motorcycle and the next steps for donating it.
The most useful starting point is a clear description of your motorcycle, where it is located, and any questions you have about proceeding. You do not need to diagnose a mechanical problem to begin that conversation. Tell us what you know, and ask us about the details that matter for your donation.
What should I tell you about my motorcycle?
Before you call, consider making a short list of the details you already have. These are useful conversation notes, not a list of donation requirements:
- The motorcycle’s make, model, and approximate year.
- Whether it currently runs and when you last used it.
- Any damage, missing parts, or other condition details you know about.
- Where it is currently kept on Staten Island.
- Questions about the vehicle records you have available.
If you do not know something, say so. A description such as “It has been parked for several years, and I have not tried starting it recently” is more useful than guessing about its condition.
Does being out of use change the conversation?
An unused motorcycle might still run, or it might have stopped running before you parked it. Let us know which description fits yours. We accept nonrunning motorcycles, so a motorcycle that does not start is still worth discussing with us.
Describe any additional concerns separately. Ask, “Can we go over these condition details before I proceed?” That keeps the conversation focused on your particular motorcycle rather than just the length of time it has been unused.
What should I ask about its location and pickup?
We arrange vehicle pickup and towing at no cost to the donor, at a convenient time and location arranged with you. Tell us where the motorcycle sits now and describe the access to that spot.
For example, you might explain that it is inside a garage, behind a gate, or in a shared driveway. Ask what arrangements are needed for that location before making plans to move it. Discuss your availability as well, so we can work through scheduling with you.
What should I ask before proceeding?
Use these questions to keep your call practical:
- What other details do you need about my motorcycle?
- What paperwork should we discuss for this donation?
- Is there anything about its current location that we should address?
- What should I do next, and what will we arrange together?
Keep a note of the answers so you have a clear next step. If you have a specific concern, bring it up during the conversation rather than leaving it until pickup arrangements are underway.
Start with a conversation
We sell donated vehicles at auction or recycle them into new materials, with proceeds benefiting charities partnered with Troops Relief Fund. Your unused motorcycle can be a way to support that work.
